Templating

We’ve added a recent video showing some of the templating process.

Almost all jobs need a template. Templates are made from 1/4 inch thick by 4 inch wide smooth wooden strips. These wooden strips are assembled on your countertop, vanity, desktop, etc. to show proper overhangs, centerlines of sinks, unevenness of any walls that the stone may sit against. In making these templates you will be able to get an idea of what the finished product will look like.

The average time it takes us to do a template for a kitchen countertop is generally 2-3 hours. Bathroom vanities generally can be done within 1 hour. Exact times will depend greatly on the size and complexity of your job.The following should be done before we come to template your job:If you are having new base cabinets installed it is imperative that all these bases are 100% screwed, glued or bolted in place. Once a template is done, cabinets can not be moved around. The entire idea of the template is for us to get an accurate gauge of the basic position, this can not be established if they are moved after we have templated.If you are having your old countertop surfaces replaced, all old countertops must be renmoved. We need to be able to see all tops of base cabinets for strength, flatness and accuracy of template.If you would like to have your old countertop surfaces removed, please let us know in advance as there will be an added charge for this service.
